PWe arrived, to spend the night at Lake Navasha Country Club, home of the hippo. We had just enough time to walk to the Lake to see hippos before night fell. We watched three hippos expose various parts of their upper body, including their backs, heads and mouths for us to see.
During the day the hippos stay in the water. At night, they come out of the water to feed and rid themselves of waste on the hotel grounds. After 7:00 pm once it is dark, you are escorted to and from your hotel room by a security guard armed with a flashlight. We were asked and heartily agreed to be woken up during the night to see the hippos on the grounds. We were awoken At 11:15pm and quietly walked out to see a mamma and baby light by the dull light of a fading flashlight......it was enough light to see them and was a pretty cool to experience.
