AFRICA - KENYA

We left Nairobi early this morning with Steven our guide/ driver. He is 42 , married and has 3 kids. A son who Is 16 and wants to be a lawyer and two daughters 9 and 4. He grew up in the Masai Mara and it is his favourite place to visit on Safari.

It was a 4.5 hour long hot drive to our final destination at Samburu NP.  Enroute wd drove across the equator.

Our afternoon game drive was incredible!! We saw Samburu giraffes, Samburu zebras, warthogs, dik diks, kabons, impalas and other ungulates .

Then we saw a juvenile lion hanging in the shade about 5 m from us. It was very exciting to see him. After a few minutes he walked into the bush to meet up with his mom and four siblings. We watched as the pride hung in the shade lazily chewing on grass.

Next up was a dozen elephants including four babies. They were all grazing and oblivious to us watching.

What a way to start the Africa trip!
